Ping Honors Our Wounded Warriors

May 10th, 2012 by admin No comments »

I think this is something of which all Americans should be aware.

This isn’t a joke or cartoon; just something interesting to know you may want to forward this on to others.
“On Monday, I played the Disney, Lake Buena Vista course. As usual the starters matched me with three other players. After a few holes we began to get to know each other a bit. One fellow was rather young and had his wife riding along in the golf cart with him. I noticed that his golf bag had his name on it and after closer inspection, it also said “wounded war veterans”. When I had my first chance to chat with him I asked him about the bag.

His response was simply that it was a gift. I
then asked if he was wounded and he said yes. When I asked more about his injury, his response was “I’d rather not talk about it, sir”.
Over a few holes, I learned that he had spent the last 15 months in an army rehabilitation hospital in San Antonio , Texas . His wife moved there to be with him and he was released from the hospital in September. He was a rather quiet fellow; however, he did say that he wanted to get good at golf. We had a nice round and as we became a bit more familiar I asked him about the brand new set of Ping woods and irons he was playing. Some looked like they had never been hit. His response was simple. He said that this round was the first full round he had played with these clubs.
Later in the round he told me the following. As part of the discharge process from the rehabilitation hospital, Ping comes in and provides three days of golf instruction, followed by club fitting. Upon discharge from the hospital, Ping gives each of the discharged veterans, generally about 40 soldiers, a brand new set of custom fitted clubs along with the impressive golf bags.
The fellow I met was named Ben Woods and he looked me in the eye and said that being fitted for those clubs was one of the best things that ever happened to him and he was determined to learn to play golf well enough to deserve the gift Ping had given him. Ben is now out of the service, medically discharged just a month ago. He is as fine a young man as you would ever want to meet.
Ping, whose products are made with pride here in America ( Arizona ), has the good judgment not to advertise this program. God Bless America and the game of golf.
Thank you “PING“!!! “May God Bless our Military!!!”

New Tiger Woods Nike Commercial

April 11th, 2010 by admin No comments »

This new Nike commercial featuring the voice over of Earle Woods, (Tiger’s father) was actually spliced together replacing Tiger’s mothers name with “Tiger” at the beginning so as to make the audience feel like Tiger’s dad was talking about him and relating it to his recent troubles.  What are your thoughts about the commercial and Nike’s take on the situation?  Please leave your comments below.

Thanks Emily

Never Hit a Golf Ball from the Ladies Tee – Unless You’re a lady…

March 27th, 2010 by admin No comments »

In this amazing golf video you’ll find out what it’s really like to hit from the ladies tee at some golf courses.  I for one think the old tradition of dropping your pants if you don’t make it past the ladies tee has seen its usefulness pass.  Nobody really drops their shorts when they don’t make it past the ladies tee anyway, so I am offering up a new tradition that if someone in your group fails to drive the ball past the ladies tees, they owe a round of drinks to the group.  Soooooo the next time your buddy duffs one, hail the cart girl or make room at the 19th hole, he owes the others a round.

Leave a comment below if you agree with the new proposed tradition.  If you don’t comment, well I guess we know that you’d probably be the one buying the round on a regular basis anyway.  :-)

Vijay Makes an Amazing Hole-in-One

March 25th, 2010 by admin No comments »

Well, with the Masters coming up I thought I’d post this classic Amazing Golf Video from last years par 3 tournament.  If you’re not familiar with this “pre-masters” ritual, the pros take a day and play all the par threes to warm up themselves and the gallery before the big weekend show.  On number 16 “redbud” the guys have turned the hole into a skipping contest to see who can skip their ball across the water and still make it onto the green.  Last year Vijay decided to take it up a notch.

I’ll bet you can’t watch it just once.

Tiger Woods in Sex Rehab?

January 15th, 2010 by admin No comments »

The latest reports have placed Tiger Woods in a sexual addiction treatment center in the Arizona desert.  These reports are as yet unconfirmed, but it may explain Tiger’s absence from the public eye since his accident in December and the adultary scandal that soon followed.

Hmmmmnnn……. sex addiction??  I probably wouldn’t argue that there is actually a psychological condition that can cause a person to be addicted to sex, however I would usually reserve assesment of that condition for those people who didn’t have the proven psychological wherewithall to sink a 40 foot put for $2 million dollars when there are 8,000 people standing within 50 yards of you and another 10 million watching on worldwide television.

Tiger has time and time again show his incredible mental discipline and psychological toughness and now he claims that when some of the world’s top competitors can’t shake him from his steely resolve that pretty much any bimbo with a gin and tonic makes him crumble like the average 22 handicapper looking at a narrow dog-leg left???  I don’t get it.

I can see it now, the daythat the 9th adultress came prancing out of the wordwork Woods says;  “Elin, baby, I’ll do anything you want.  It really isn’t my fault, I see those long legs and those big……..uh,  eyes………. and something else takes over.    I know! I’ll go to sex rehab in Arizona where all the Vegas strippers go to get themselves cured of their sex addictions! …….uh …….. at least that’s where I heard they go to get cured.”

Sounds kind of like putting a tiger in a rabbit cage doesn’t it?

Anyway, I’m sure Tiger will eventually show that classic Tiger pearly white grin and tell the public that he has dealt with his private matters in a private way and has sought out the help that he needed and now he’s ready to re-focus himself on his family and his career and get life back on track.  He’ll thank his wife, his friends and everyone who’s supported him…blah….blah….blah

And just to show you how forgiving the public is in such matters, as soon thereafter as Tiger mounts one of his Sunday tournament runs, all the announcers will talk about is what an amazing comeback it is and how strong he is mentally to have beaten down his horrible affliction of all those terrible (Have you seen the pictures?  I mean it must have been truly horrifying) sexual escapades with all those menacing vixens.  What a true champion.

The big question is what will Tiger’s wife Elin will do?  Will she take the money and run back to Sweden and never be heard from again?  Will she stay around and be the poor suffering, albeit supporting wife?  Time will certainly tell.

What do you think?   Leave your comments below.

AT&T Joins Accenture and Gillette in dropping its sponsorship of Tiger Woods

December 31st, 2009 by admin 1 comment »

It was announced minutes ago that AT&T has dropped its sponsorship of Tiger Woods.  AT&T did not give specific reasons for dropping Woods nor did they indicate how much its endorsment deal with Woods was worth.  Tiger played all of his tournaments in 2009 with the AT&T logo on his golf bag and AT& T was also the sponsor of a PGA tour event in July that was hosted by Tiger Woods.  The telecom giant says that it plans to continue its relationship with the PGA and the tournament in July.

Tiger Woods was the first professional athlete to reach the $1 Billion mark in career earnings through tournament wins and endorsement/sponsorship deals.  The golfer has now taken an indefinite leave of absence from the game that made him one of the richest and most popular athletes in history.

How many more sponsors can be expected to take a leave of absence from Tiger?

Tell us what you think the future holds for Tiger Woods..

Tiger Woods’ Accenture Ads Hold New Meanings

Accenture Ad still displayed in Airports across the country

Accenture Ad still displayed in Airports across the country

Accenture doesn’t seem to be in any hurry to remove advertisements featuring Tiger Woods even though the company has publicly ended it’s endorsement agreement with the golf legend.   When we look at the ads like this one, the message seems to take on an entirely new meaning.

One thing is for sure.  Tiger’s image on the ads will still draw attention to the brand.  With the message shown on this poster, many passers by will nod in agreement I’m sure.

What will Tiger do next???

Accenture Drops Tiger. Who’s next?

December 14th, 2009 by admin 1 comment »

Well, the first shoe has dropped on the Tiger Woods emprire in the form of one of Tigers big sponsors, Accenture, electing to end its deal with the golfer.   It is reported that Woods earns in the neihborhood of $100 million per year in total endorsement contracts and so far, it seems that Accenture is the only company to end its marketing relationship in the wake of recent news about his infidelities.  Gatorade last week, also chose to end its promotion of Woods’ personally labled “Tiger” sports drink, but said its decision had nothing to do with Woods’ personal life.

One of Tigers other sponsors, Swiss watch maker Tag Heuer has stated that it intends to retain its agreement with Woods and that Tigers personal life is none of their business.  (Swiss pragmatism at its best).  With other major sponsors like; Nike, American Express, AT&T, Gillette and others, who will be the next major sponsor to end their relationship with the golfing legend?

Is the public really less likely to patronize a compay who retains Woods as a spokesperson or image ad?  Was the public more likely to patronize a company using Woods’ endorsement in the first place?  In either case, at an estimated net worth close to $1 billion, we don’t think Tiger is headed to poor house anytime soon.

We’d like to know what you think?  Should companies drop Tiger in the wake of recent events?  Why or why not?   Will Tigers personal life influence your decision the next time you are presented with a choice of products or services that maintain a sponsorship agreement with Woods?  We’d really like to hear your opinion.  Please leave your comments below.

Phil Mickelson demonstrates the backwards golf shot

December 11th, 2009 by admin No comments »

Just in case you ever find yourself with that impossible severe downhill stance on a hill or in a greenside bunker, here’s how to get out.  Phil makes it look easy, but I guess that’s what happens when you spend that much time on a golf course.  Nice shot Phil.
